Quick recall
From the last lab. Answer in your head, then open to check.
1. How do you enter copy mode and search upwards for a word?Ctrl-b [, then ?word and Enter (with vi keys).2. Where does copied text go?Into tmux's paste buffers (tmux list-buffers); Ctrl-b ] pastes it.
Introduction
This machine already has a tmux session running that you didn't start.
The Lost Token
A release build ran in the background tmux session build. Somewhere in its output it printed a one-time release token, and nobody saved the log.
Tasks
Find the release token in the build session's output.
Save just the token in ~/project/token.txt.
Requirements
Don't close the build session; others need its output.
There's more than one way to do this. Any way that works counts.
Example
$ cat token.txt
░░░-░░░-░░░
Solution
Interactively:
tmux attach -t build
Ctrl-b [, then ?TOKEN and Enter shows RELEASE TOKEN: 7Q4-KX9-ZT2. Press q, detach with Ctrl-b d, then:
echo 7Q4-KX9-ZT2 > token.txt
Or without attaching, straight from the scrollback:
tmux capture-pane -p -S - -t build | grep TOKEN
Summary
Challenge complete. Compare your approach with the solution: there is usually more than one good way.
